Morrisons is set to roll out the same-day delivery service it runs with Amazon to dozens of new stores by the end of this month.
The supermarket will expand the Amazon Prime partnership to at least 40 stores – up from 17 in March.
Locked down: Customers have turned to online shopping to avoid going into stores
It comes as customers have turned to online shopping to avoid going into stores during lockdown. Many have also switched to ordering one large weekly shop, instead of buying fewer items several times a week.
Morrisons is expected to announce the expanded collaboration with Amazon alongside its first-quarter results figures tomorrow, the Sunday Times reported.
Analysts believe sales at Morrisons stores open for more than a year rose by 4.5 per cent between January and March – but costs also climbed as it hired 3,500 staff.
