Chelsea were forced to make last minute tactical modification after seeing

CHELSEA employer Thomas Tuchel has exposed his side were forced into a last-minute tactical modification after seeing Real Madrid’s line-up on Tuesday night.

The Blues drew 1-1 with Zinedine Zidane’s side in the away leg of their Champions League semi-final tie as they take an important away goal advantage back to Stamford Bridge.

But in his post-match press conference Tuchel validated he was not prepared for Real lining up in a 3-5-2 formation.

Speaking with press reporters, he stated: “So we prepared [for] a 4-3-3.

” When we saw the line-up we had a quick talk in the dressing space to a little alter who needs to do what with the 2 strikers and the three in the middle.

” We needed to adapt.”

Genuine lined up with three centre-backs, a jam-packed midfield and Karim Benzema partnered by Vinicius Junior upfront.

Christian Pulisic offered Chelsea the lead after simply 14 minutes following a blistering start from the visitors.

But Benzema lashed house an equaliser against the run of play soon before the half hour mark to level things up on the night.

The video game fizzled out in the 2nd half as both sides seemed rather content with the scoreline entering into the return fixture in West London.


Chelsea are aiming to reach their very first Champions League last considering that they won the competitors back in 2012.

On The Other Hand, Real Madrid are seeking a fourth European triumph in just 7 years.

If they do go on to lift the prize then Zidane will become the first supervisor in history to win the competitors four times.

The other semi-final first leg will be played out in France on Wednesday night in between Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City.
